Roger has provided business valuation and consulting services to over 300 companies in more than 40 industries since 1993. Valuation assignments have included appraisals of “S” and “C” corporations, LLCs, family limited partnerships, real estate partnerships, professional associations and sole proprietorships. Roger is also a Qualified Appraiser, as defined under the Pension Protection Act of 2006 and Internal Revenue Code Section 6695A(c). Valuations have been performed for many purposes including marital dissolution, estate tax and estate tax planning, gifting of business interests, minority shareholder disputes, economic damage litigation, sales and acquisitions of business interests, buy/sell agreements, mergers, subchapter “S” elections and the pursuit of venture capital. Valuations have been provided for businesses with gross revenues ranging from $200,000 to over $500 million. Prior to the formation of Birong Associates, Roger was a principal of a middle market mergers and acquisitions consulting firm and has held senior management and executive officer positions with privately owned companies as well as publicly-owned companies traded on the NYSE Amex Equities Exchange (American Stock Exchange) and the New York Stock Exchange.
Roger has been a guest speaker and has provided seminars for numerous professional and trade organizations including the Jacksonville Bar Association, the St. Johns Country Bar Association, the Volusia County Bar Association, the Risk Management Association (RMA), The Executive Committee (TEC/Vistage Florida), The Alternative Board (TAB), the Florida Business Brokers Association, and the Small Business Development Center at the University of North Florida. His articles related to business valuation have been accepted for publication in various business and trade periodicals including The Bar Bulletin (Jacksonville Bar Association), The Communicator (Volusia County Bar Association), Boss Magazine (National Business Association), IBBA News (The International Business Brokers Association), Folio (The South Carolina Society of Accountants), Sign Up (The Florida Sign Association), The Florida Business Journal (The Florida Business Brokers Association), Connections (The Jacksonville Small Business Resource Network) and Advantage Magazine.
Roger has been qualified as a business valuation expert in the Fourth, Fifth, Seventh and eighteenth Judicial Circuit Courts of Florida in litigation involving marital dissolution and contract/shareholder disputes. He has also provided certified opinions of value of privately owned businesses on numerous occasions in collaborative settings while being engaged by both parties in divorce and business ownership disputes.
